HANNES BELL It is with deep sorrow the family announces the passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Hannes Bell on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at his home with his family around him. Hannes was born on June 12, 1922 and lived in Hecla Island where he met his future wife Winniefred Wood. They married on May 23, 1946 and together raised eight children. They resided in Bissett for 14 years before moving to Selkirk in 1966. Hannes was employed by the Town of Selkirk until his retirement. Dad had a love for God, his wife, family and always made new friends where ever he went. Our home was always open to everyone and nothing made him feel better than getting together with his family or his many brothers and sisters to share a good story, laughter, music and a dance. Dad enjoyed the outdoors and hunting with the boys was his favourite. Dad always made time for the simple things in life like enjoying children, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His comical nature was always able to put everyone at ease. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his sons, Hannes Jr., Wes (Helen), Miles (Gail), Terry (Joanne), Bruce (Nola) and daughter Lovisa Billington (Kevin); daughter-in-law Lee; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters Helga McDonald and Gwen Popowich (Steve); brothers, Victor, Peter (Loualla), Billy (Carol), Jon (Bonnie) and Eggert (Donna); sisters-in-law Thelma and Eleanor, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Winniefred; sons Dwight and Barry; brothers Olafur and Kristen; sisters Sigga Dear and Margret Dear; brothers-in-law Sam Dear and Lorne Dear and sister-in-law Irene. Prayers will be held on Thursday, June 19 at 4:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior to in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 20 at 1:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior to in the Manigatogan Recreation Hall with Pastor Raymond Settee officiating. Interment will follow at the Manigatogan Anglican Cemetery. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons. TO DAD How blessed you were our father, Your inspiration and guidance will always be with us. You taught us right from wrong and how to enjoy everyday to its fullest. You worked so hard to clothe and feed us, asking so very little in return. You always had that special answer, story or joke that always touched our hearts. We will truly miss you dad. Thank you so much for all the wonderful memories. May God care for you as you did for us. Love you forever. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all those who helped care for Dad in the last few years; Cleo, Lise and Sharon; the staff at Red River Place, SMHC (E-15) and the Selkirk General Hospital for all their care and support. Thank you to Gilbart Funeral Home for all the help with the arrangements. Special thanks to Curtis for being there for Grampa during these last few weeks. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
