MARIE (MARY) MANNING (nee REIMER) Peacefully, Mary Manning passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, MB at the age of 91. Mary is survived by her son, Brian Manning; grandchildren Lauralee and Trevor, all of Toronto, ON; sisters Susan Derksen and Margaret (John) Friesen; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Mary was born June 15, 1916 and grew up on the family farm near Horndean, MB. She was the first of four daughters born to Henry and Suzanna Reimer. She married Michael Manning on June 30, 1950 and worked as a professional seamstress in ladies' dress shops throughout Winnipeg. She also enjoyed sewing for family and friends: especially wedding dresses. Mary had a wide variety of interests including gardening at the Birds Hill farm, cooking, shopping and square dancing. She was always up to date on political affairs and current events; she loved to participate in lively and intelligent discussions. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael in 1978; sister Anna Lerch; brothers-in-law Arthur Lerch and David Derksen. Special thanks to Teenie Funk and family, the outstanding health care workers and staff at Arlington Haus, and nursing staff on 3 North at Grace Hospital. As per Mary's request there will be no funeral. A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Friday, June 20 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Glendale Court, 3590 Portage Avenue.
