Suddenly at Kingston General Hospital, Kingston, Ontario, on Thursday, June 5, 2008. Harold was born August 30, 1921, and lived, during his school years, in Manitou, Manitoba, a town which, throughout his life, remained dear to his heart. He chose a medical career, and graduated from Queen's University in 1946. Post graduate training followed at Ottawa Civic Hospital, Kingston General Hospital, Queen's University of Toronto, and Mayo Clinic at Rochester, Minnesota. He was a member of the Department of Surgery, Queen's University 1955 to retirement as Associate Professor in 1987; Regional Surgeon, Department of Corrections 1960 to 1987; Consulting Surgeon, Canada Forces Hospital 1956 to 1987. Family members surviving to cherish his memory are his daughter Josephine Ann (Jan), Toronto; his son Eric Dewar, Kingston; sister Ida Birse and brother Norman, both in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his beloved wife M. Josephine, his son Stephen Harold, his parents Adolf and Ottelie Neuman, brother Raymond, sisters Matilda (Tillie) Heimers, Audry, Helen and Velma. A Memorial Service was held in Kingston on June 11, 2008.
