SHIRLEY LOUISE MCNAUGHTON With her loving family by her side, Shirley Louise McNaughton passed away on Sunday June 15, 2008. Remaining to forever cherish Shirley's memory are her daughters and sons-in-law; Margo and Campbell Moss, Mona and Chris Maxfield and Catherine and Glenn Peterson, as well as her grandchildren; Lauren and Olivia Maxfield, and Adam, Amie and Kate Peterson. She is also survived by her sisters Edna Dewar of Regina and Jean Arnold of Saskatoon; brother-in-law Richard McNaughton of Moose Jaw; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Shirley was recently predeceased by her husband Charles. Born the eldest of three in Davidson, Saskatchewan to Harriet and Charles Bell, Shirley grew up in Saskatoon and graduated from Nursing at the Saskatoon City Hospital. She met Charles while he was attending the University of Saskatchewan. They moved to Winnipeg where she continued her nursing career at the Children's Hospital. She postponed her career to devote her time to raising her three daughters. Shirley enjoyed many activities, including travelling, playing the piano, curling, and baseball. She spent many summers at the family cottage at Florence Lake. Her family was her first priority and she played an important role in raising her grandchildren. Shirley was a kind, gentle and caring person with a wonderful sense of humour and a great love for music. She was not only our mother, she was our best friend and we will miss her dearly. A private family service will be held at a later date. Our family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Palliative Home Care staff, and the staff of 3East at Riverview Health Centre for their compassionate care. Donations in Shirley's memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Manitoba Division, 100-1465 Buffalo Place, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 1L8.
