ERIN LYNN PORTEOUS Early Thursday, June 19th, 2008 Erin, age 27 of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side. Remaining to forever celebrate Erin's life are her parents, Joanne and David; brother Robin; grandparents, Bill and Muriel Cross, aunts and uncles Bev and Laurie, Lana and Dan, Barb and Vassillies, Joan and Bryce, Tracy and Becki, David and Laurie, Doug and Tina and cousins, Rebecca (Dave), Elise (George), Rachelle (Serafeim), Meagan (Derek), Brian, Ted, Maria, Mike, Natalie and Colton and many more relatives and friends. Erin was predeceased by her beloved grandparents, Carol and Terry Porteous. Erin was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she developed a deep love of family, friends, sports and travel. She attended Vincent Massey Collegiate and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree from the University of Manitoba. During her life Erin loved playing and coaching Volleyball. She had a passion for adventure and people which led her to travel throughout Europe and to teach English in South Korea. She excelled in her chosen field of Sales and Marketing and was able to combine her love of sports and her education in her role as the Manitoba Marketing Coordinator for Hbc Run for Canada. Over the last two years, as Erin fought valiantly against cancer, she became a passionate advocate for ethical consumerism and health through food. Erin had the gift of reaching out and connecting with people. Her heart was filled with love, enthusiasm, strength, optimism and courage. Cancer eventually took her body but never was able to touch her spirit. The family would like to pass along thanks to the many relatives and friends who have provided support and caring over the past two years. Special thanks go to friends and colleagues from the Pembina Trails School Division, Investors Group, Manitoba Telecom Services and St. James-Assiniboia School Division, and to Dr. Marianne Krahn, Therese McCormack and Dr. Joel Gingrich from Cancer Care, the nurses and staff of Concordia Hospital 2 West, and Monique Bourke, community nurse with Palliative Care Program. A memorial service to celebrate Erin's life will be held at Trinity United Church 933 Summerside Ave. Winnipeg, Manitoba Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow at Canad Inns 1824 Pembina Hwy.
