Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE (FLO) PETERSON (nee ISFELD) Suddenly and too soon, our beloved mother, Granny and Great-Granny sister, auntie and friend, Florence (Flo) Peterson left us for a better place on Sunday, June 15, 2008. Left to cherish wonderful warm memories are her three children, daughter Kris (Rick) Kowalski, son Andy and son Pat (Carol) Peterson; grandchildren, Lee (Cindy), Corey (Korrie) and Kelly (Elly) Kowalski, Lenny, Harry and Hannah Peterson; great-grand-children, Ryley, Keenan, Cade and Kennedy Kowalski; and sisters, Louise Thorsteinson and Olena Kastelain, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband and soul-mate of 40 years, Harry Peterson; her infant son Glenn; her parents Andrew and Mary Isfeld and brother Eric Isfeld. Mom was born March 11, 1932 in Husavick, Manitoba and grew up a fisherman's daughter only to marry and become a fisherman's wife, settling just a few miles away in South Beach, Gimli for the remainder of her life - the lake was always a part of her life. Mom and Dad worked tirelessly side by side for 40 years as mink ranchers and in the commercial fishing business - always striving to give their kids the best they could provide - we thank you for instilling a strong work ethic and family bond as we continue to provide for our own families! Mom was a lady of many talents - artistic in anything she did - from crocheting and knitting beautiful sweaters and afghans that she generously gifted to her family, to showing off her green-thumb with beautiful flowers both indoors and out over the years. Dad lovingly teased Mom about her one half Icelandic and one half Irish heritage - singing When Irish Eyes are Smiling to see that twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes - now Mom and Dad are together again... In keeping with Mom's wishes, a private graveside service and celebration of her life has taken place in Gimli. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Flo's memory to the Gimli Animal Shelter. We love you and miss you - Goda Not Elskan! Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
