JOAN MOWDY (nee WEST) Joan Mowdy, beloved wife of Paul, passed away suddenly on June 19, 2008 at the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 86 years. She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Paul, her brother George West and sister Kay Maier. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Heather Saine, Daniel West (Debbie), Joanne Maier (Charles), Ron Maier (Colleen), Ed Sonny Mowdy (Dianne), Linda Holden (Blair), Joanne Prystupa, Rhona Healley-Ogden, and their families. Joan was born in Navidale, Scotland on May 24, 1922. She was the second child of Johan and John West and came to Canada as a young child. She worked for many years at the Cara gift shop at the Winnipeg International Airport. Since 1990, she and Paul have enjoyed their summers at their cottage at Hillside Beach. Funeral service Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. with viewing one half hour prior to service. Interment at Brookside Cemetery.
