Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN (KATIE) SHIRLEY NORDSTROM (nee McDONALD) December 29, 1934 June 21, 2008 With much sadness Katie's family wish to announce her sudden passing on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Grace Hospital I.C.U. at the age of 73 years. Remaining to forever cherish Katie's memory are her husband Allan; son Kenneth and wife Cheryl, beloved grandson Justin and many extended family members. She is survived by four sisters and four brothers, two of whom live in Australia, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law and all of their families. Katie was predeceased by her parents, Ken and Louise McDonald; sister Lliane David of Rhein, SK; brother, Bob McDonald of Edmonton, AB as well as her in-laws Margaret and Clarence Nordstrom of Salmon Arm, BC. Katie was born in Winnipeg, the middle child of a family of 11. At an early age the family moved to Charleswood, where she received her education through high school and then attended Business College. After their marriage, Katie and Allan spent most of their married life on Strathcona Street in the West End of Winnipeg. She was a faithful employee of the T. Eaton Co. at Polo Park for 23 years. Katie and Allan are longtime members of the ANAF #1 where she played bingo and sometimes won and they socialized with the members at the club. Katie enjoyed snowmobiling and took a keen interest in Allan's work. She excelled as a homemaker, was very diligent that everything she and everyone else did be done perfectly, her way. All who knew Katie will long remember her dry wit. On Thursday, June 26 at 1:30 p.m. Katie's funeral service will be held in the Army Navy Airforce # 1, 300 1395 Ellice Avenue. Sincere thanks to the ICU team for their professional care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Katie's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9 She will be missed.
