Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory(MARY) DOREEN BERRY (nee DAVIDSON) August 10, 1920 - June 21, 2008 Doreen passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side just short of her 88th birthday at the Rock Lake Personal Care Home in Pilot Mound on June 21, 2008. Doreen was born in Manitou to Wendell and Elva Davidson of New Haven District, attended New Haven School until grade eight after which she took grade nine and 10 by correspondence. She continued her education at Manitou High School boarding in Manitou. After graduating high school, she attended Normal School and obtained her Teacher's Certificate in 1941. Doreen taught in Riverdale and Mather then in 1945 began studies at the University of Manitoba, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. For the next two and a half years she taught home economics in Kenora, Ontario. While home visiting her parents, she attended a community baseball game at which Middleton was playing. She met Bill Berry and married him July 28, 1951 at her parents' farm on the hottest day of the year. They moved to the Berry homestead in Middleton where they raised their family. In 1970, Doreen returned to teaching at Nellie McClung High School in Manitou, MB. Her community and family were the most important things in her life. She was a lifelong member of the Middleton Ladies Club and an experienced agricultural fair judge. She saw many changes during her lifetime, and met all challenges with great success. She leaves behind many memories and a family that loved her and will miss her dearly. Doreen was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 55 years, Bill. Left to mourn her passing is her brother Ward (Phyllis); her seven children, Marie (Bill), Dave, Elva, Nora Ann (Don), Arthur (Karen), Donna May (Scott) and Alice (Danny), as well as numerous grand-children, nieces and nephews. They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it; death cannot kill what never dies. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at New Haven Church, with luncheon to follow at 3:30 p.m. at the C.E. Building, Manitou United Church. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations to Pembina Manitou Area Foundation. Thank you to everyone who visited Mum, sent wishes, or had her in their thoughts. This means so much to us.
