BEATRICE HUMBY February 6, 1912 - June 19, 2008 Bea, at the age of 96 years, has passed on, having lived a full and meaningful life. She was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, Jack Humby. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Shirley and her son, Harry. She will also be missed by her son-in-law Albert, and daughter-in-law, Francie. Also dear to Bea were her five grandchildren - Gary, Peggy, Celesta, Alyssa, and John - and six great-grandchildren - David, Meryn, Amanda, Jared, Keziah, and Rachel. She is survived by her sister Irene Karasick-McMurrich and her brother, Barry Rose. Born in Winnipeg, Bea met the true love of her life, Jack Humby, and married him when she was 16 years old. She was a very loving mother, always wanting the best for her children. She enjoyed her role as a homemaker, and lavished attention on all, including a succession of family dogs. In maintaining her happy home, she saw that everyone was well nourished with wholesome food and, on occasion, entertained, as she could sing and play the piano. She was also a first-class business partner for her husband, looking after the office end of their plumbing company for over 50 years. After they retired, Bea and Jack moved to the city of Victoria. There they enjoyed 25 years of endless summer in fine Victoria weather. Eventually, ill health forced their return to Winnipeg. After Jack's passing, Bea spent the next six years living close to and being cared for by her son, Harry, and his family. She has also enjoyed very frequent visits from her daughter, Shirley, from Toronto. The family thanks her home care workers for their daily help and kindness. Following Bea's wishes, a private family service was held on June 23, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
