After John passed away, she continued to live on the farm until 2001 when illness necessitated her move to the Répos Jolys in St. Pierre-Jolys, MB. She was a life-long member of the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church of the Nativity of St. Mary at Senkiw. She was a devoted member of the Roseau Valley Legion. Her hobbies included cross-stitching, quilting, cooking, listening to Ukrainian music, gardening and travelling. Mom would work for days before Ukrainian Easter and Christmas to prepare for the entire family who gathered in her home. She shared freely her traditions. Baba always took special care to ensure the little ones were included in outside Easter egg hunts and loved to hear them caroling around the dinner table Nellie will always be remembered for her ability to make any plant grow. Her passion for flowers was always evident in the colorful displays she created in her massive flower beds. Special thanks to the staff of the Répos Jolys who took such great care of Mom. Appreciation is extended to the many friends and family members who visited and made Nellie's days special.
