JOHN B. FRIESEN June 11, 1924 June 26, 2008 Peacefully, on June 26, 2008, our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away at the age of 84 after a brief battle with cancer at the Riverview Health Centre. John leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Elsie of 59 years; sons Ron (Diane), Roger (Anne), Wayne (Irene), Vern (Karin), Wendel (Lynda) and daughter Patti Morrow (Alan); 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. John was predeceased by an infant daughter Janis, daughter-in-law Alvira, his parents, one sister and his twin brother. John came to Canada from Russia as a child and grew up in Western Manitoba in the McAuley area. In 1946 John began farming near Moore Park, MB. John and Elsie worked hard with the result being a well-run farm. In 1972 he retired from farming and moved his family to Winnipeg. He worked at Donwood Manor until the age of 65 as Maintenance Supervisor. He could fix almost anything. In his retirement years he enjoyed going for coffee with his friends and volunteering at the MCC Thrift Store. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the Riverview Health Centre for their excellent care and support. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the McIvor Ave. Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Ave. Donations may be made to MCC.
