TERESA VIEGAS MATIAS CANDEIAS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Teresa Viegas Matias Candeias. Teresa was born on January 25, 1943 in Portugal. She immigrated to Canada on March 24, 1970. In 1973, she married her husband Antonio. On September 9, 1978 they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, the love of their lives, Dulce. On January 8, 2006 Teresa became a grandmother with the birth of her grandson, Owen Creighton. They often say the love a grandparent has for their grandchild is equal to or greater than that of their own child. It was evident from the start that Owen was Teresa's greatest love. She was a loving and wonderful grandmother. On April 26, 2008 Teresa was diagnosed with a serious illness. Despite this, she remained brave and selfless, not wanting others to worry about her. She took all treatment necessary and fought a hard battle against this disease. On June 25, 2008 at approximately 7:15 p.m., Teresa with family at her side, lost the battle and went peacefully to be with God. Teresa will be missed by her husband Antonio; daughter Dulce; son-in-law Dirk; grandson Owen; her siblings, Victor (Jeany), Herman, Celeste, Cremilda and Manuel (Maria du Carmo); as well as her niece and nephew that were like her own children, Vanessa and Carlos and the rest of her family and friends here and in Portugal. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to the Canadian Cancer Society of Manitoba. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
