Date of Passing: Jun 17, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH HELEN (BETTY) TRONRUD (nee INGLIS) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Betty, at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre on June 17, 2008 at the age of 84 years. Mother was born in Winnipeg in 1924, the daughter of Helen McPhee (Somerville) and George Inglis, Scottish immigrants. Most of her young life was spent growing up in Woodhaven. Swimming, gymnastics, singing, art and roller skating were among mom's early interests. As a young adult, Betty contributed to the war effort by working on aircraft assembly. Her marriage to Joseph John Alexander Tronrud (Tiny) took place in Brandon in 1945. They enjoyed many years of happiness, five children and the joint building of both a cottage in the Whiteshell, as well as a home in Charleswood. Mom put all her efforts into her family life; her children grew up in this union of love and care. Extremely outgoing, Betty was well respected when she worked at the I.O.O.F. Home in Charleswood, giving comfort and organizing social activities for the senior residents. With a sense of humour to the last, an artistic eye and the joy of participation in games, mom's social activities formed a large part of her later life. Police conventions, cottage life, family and friends were enjoyed over the years. Betty is predeceased by Tiny, the father of her children; her beloved sons, Terry Philip (1972) and Andrew John (2005); as well as her sisters, Jean Weir Inglis, Ethel Eitleman (Rod) and her brother, John Inglis (Pat). She will live on in the hearts of her children, Mary Lynn (Carl), Betty-Jean (Bryce), John (Kim) and daughter-in-law, Vicki (Andy); as well as grandchildren, Jody, Duncan, Leesa, Terry, Michael and Cody. A special thanks to Marie, Charles Toop, Audrey and friends at East Park Lodge. A private family graveside service will be held at Chapel Lawn. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
