Born: Feb 25, 1919
Date of Passing: Jun 23, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROY (ROBERT) TROUGHTON Peacefully, on June 23, 2008, Roy Troughton gently passed away after a brief and dignified battle with cancer at the age of 89. Dad was born on February 25, 1919 in the North End of Winnipeg. Throughout his younger years he held numerous jobs and developed a very strong work ethic that remained with him throughout his life. During the Second World War, as a young man, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and served as a gunner and was honourably discharged upon the conclusion of the war. Upon returning to Winnipeg he joined the Winnipeg Police Department in 1945 and served with integrity through to his retirement in 1979. After retirement from the Police Department, Dad took up a Second Career as a mail courier with Parrish and Heimbecker. He often spoke fondly of the many friends he made in their employ. Roy was predeceased by his wife Audrey in 1997 and will be missed by his two sons, Brian and Blair, his brother Bill Troughton as well as his nephews and nieces. At our Father's request cremation has taken place and a private service has been held to celebrate his life. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Grace Hospital for their unyielding and compassionate care of our father during his illness. If friends should desire donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Rest in PeaceUntil we meet again.
