ALBERT LAWRENCE GEORGE ROHL May 12, 1939 June 29, 2008 Peacefully at home with family by his side, Albert Rohl passed away after a long battle with Carcinoid Neuroendocrine Tumor Cancer. Albert will be lovingly remembered by his wife Beverley; children Kurt (Carla), Brad (Shelly), Lisa, Jason (Vivian); stepchildren Kelvin (Tamara), Quentin (Michelle), Mandy (Kevin); grandchildren Jennifer, Regan, Ethan, Owen, Braxton, Keenan, Petra, Portia and Pearce; step-grandchildren Gillian, Landon, Alyssa, Morgan, Jordan and Merrick; his sister Margaret Graham, father-in-law Sablin Linde, mother-in-law Florence Linde, brother and sisters-in-law John and Karen Linde, Eric and Karen Linde; cousins, nieces and nephews, Pam Rohl and Kelvin Shuvera. Albert was predeceased by his parents George and Leana Rohl in 1996-1997. Albert was raised in St. Martin, Manitoba, where he worked with his parents in their general store. He started hauling fuel and oil for his Dad at the age of 12 and eventually got his driver's license in Ashern while on a delivery with the fuel truck. He passed! In 1950, Dad bought the first D7 17A Caterpillar and worked hundreds of jobs...the beginning of Rohl Construction. Throughout his work he was smart and successful in building a large company. Albert also had a cattle ranch until 1985, with Thor Jonsson as cattle manager between 1972 to 1979. Construction became the focus again, with his sons running the construction business. Albert then took up grain farming in the 1990s in Gypsumville, Manitoba. Rohl Farms would not be what it is today without the help of Ron Bittner, Les Ivaniski, Danny Decker, Don Wurster, Rudy Sinclair and Ken Zalluski; to Syd Rawluk, Stanley Jr. Olender and many others for helping with the harvest as well as the stone picking crews of Clifford Beardy and Wayne Nanacoop. Special notation to Merv Chuback and Brian Kelsch for their guidance and support in Albert's life. His close friends Nick Halaburda, Dick Batten, Eugene Syrotuik, Neil Campbell, Mark Bretton, Peter Kalden and Les Ivaniski as well as many that are now gone. We would like to thank Dr. Werier, Dr. Wong, the staff at St. Boniface Cancer Care, Dr. Kocha, Dr. Reid, Wendy Gillis and Rosemary Davidson at the London Health Science Centre. Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful home care staff, Joan Ericson, friends, neighbours and family who helped Albert and Bev in his final days. We will all remember Albert as someone who loved grain farming. He loved to drive through his fields, checking his crops and drainage. He was hard working and pushed those around him to do the same. Dad was a husband, father, grandpa, businessman, hunting partner and our friend. We will miss him deeply. A celebration of Albert's life will be held on Friday, July 4, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Martin Community Centre, with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow in the Gypsumville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Carcinoid Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (CNETS) Canada, Box 41, Group 360, RR3, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 2E7.
