Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCONSTANCE EILEEN MCDOUGALL June 17, 1925 June 29, 2008 Surrounded by family, our mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend passed away in the early hours of Sunday, June 29 with grace, dignity, and courage. She was 83 years old and died from heart disease and complications from a fall six days previously. She was born and grew up in London, England with her parents, three sisters and brother. Over the years she was able to return many times as recently as the summer of 2007. During the war years mom worked in the London theatre district at Drury Lane. In the company of some of the greats (Maurice Chevalier, Lawrence Olivier, Noel Coward, Vivian Leigh to name a few) she developed a lifelong love of the theatre. She always enjoyed returning to London to see a theatre production. Mom was a war bride, meeting and marrying our father George in England. Daughter Carol was born there and later Joyce and Ian in Canada. In 1959 her husband George passed away. Mom's career took her from the administrative offices at Shilo, to North Norfolk Municipal Office in MacGregor, the Health Sciences Accounts Department and finally to the offices of the Municipality of Cornwallis, situated in Brandon. Mom retired to Winnipeg and spent the last one and a half years at Catherine Place. Thank you to the residents and staff for their kindness. Mom is survived by children Carol (Larry), Joyce (Jim) and Ian (Edna), grandchildren Larry (Louise), Shawn (Cec), Ryan, Shannon, Sarah, great-grandchildren Courtney, Dylan, Brendan and Karlyn. She was extremely proud of all and their accomplishments. In England, left to mourn are sisters Rose (Harold), Nell (Den), Joyce (Colin), brother Bill (Hazel) as well as many nieces and nephews. In Canada those surviving include Viola (Wayne), Bill (Myrtle), Freda, as well as nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband George, parents Frederick, Florence Hoskins, as well as many extended family members. Mom faced many challenges throughout life, accepted and dealt with them in a determined way. We learned many life lessons from her including the values of hard work, commitment, and responsibility, and the importance of education and lifelong learning. However the most lasting legacy will be the sense of family and the meaning of unconditional love. Thank you for these gifts. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of 4E at St. Boniface Hospital, in particular Dr. Berman-Wong. Your care, compassion, and professionalism were appreciated by all during this very difficult time. The funeral will be held on Friday, July 4 at 11:00 a.m. at St. George's Crescentwood Anglican Church, 168 Wilton Street, Winnipeg. As per mom's wishes interment will take place in MacGregor Cemetery, with husband George, and in England at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Children's Fund of Canada, 1200 Denison St., Markham, Ontario L3R 8G6 www.ccfcanada.ca Rest in peace Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.desjardins-funeral.ca DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
