RICHARD JOHN (SONNY) JOHNSTON On Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Portage District General Hospital, Richard John Sonny Johnston of Portage la Prairie, passed away at the age of 76 years. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the Longburn Cemetery. Sonny was born on July 22, 1931 son of Harold and Tillie Johnston at Portage la Prairie. He was raised and received his education in the Longburn District. He then worked on his parents farm then he farmed on his own for a short time before entering the construction business. He was self employed as well as working for several local contractors. Predeceased by his parents,his wife Terri, his daughter Debbie Bluqurie, two brothers Marvin, Harvey in infancy, two sisters Betty Williams and Margaret Maly he leaves to mourn his passing three daughters, Carol Braun of Portage la Prairie, Sherrie (Danny) McKie of Portage la Prairie, Heather (Danny) Moar of Winnipeg, and five grandchildren. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces and nephews.
