ROBERT GORDON RUSSELL Today the world has lost a man of love, integrity and strength. Bob's unwavering determination to beat his cancer ended peacefully in his home on Sunday, June 29, 2008 in Swan River. His two year journey with cancer was met with such a positive outlook, no matter how many challenges and setbacks he was faced with. He leaves to mourn his wife of 44 years, Judy, who loved him more than life itself; his son Mark and wife Romy; his daughter Allison and friend Melissa; brother Murray and wife Megan; as well as many relatives. He was predeceased by his mother, Hazel in 1972, his father, Gordon in 1994. and brother Jim in 1960. Bob was a true community-minded person and loved the Swan River Valley so very much. His optimistic presence in our lives will be greatly missed by his many friends and relatives. At Bob's request, a private family service conducted by Reverend Nigel Packwood was held on Thursday, June 3, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. from the Family Chapel at Heritage Memorial Gardens, Swan River. The memorial service was later followed by a come and go celebration of Bob's life at 1:00 p.m. from the Reception Room at Heritage Memorial Gardens. Cremation has taken place. Bob requested that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society - Manitoba Division, CancerCare Manitoba, the Swan Valley Health Facilities Foundation, and the Community Foundation of Swan Valley.
