He is survived by his son Zachary (Zach), daughter Felicia, mother Annette Chop, father Peter Chop, brother Bob (Sydney), sister Brenda, Zachary's mother Carrie, Felicia's mother Sandra, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Sam and Pearl Chop, and Ken and Jean Prout. Michael, or Mike as he was known to his friends, was born May 22, 1962 in Winnipeg. Except for three years in the mid-1960s when the family lived in Calgary, Michael grew up in the North-end and later in West Kildonan where he attended Seven Oaks Elementary School, Edmund Partridge, and West Kildonan Collegiate. It was during this time that Michael met his life-long friends, including amongst others, Donny, Doug, Brian, Bob, Carla, Gus, Sheila and Andrew. He also leaves many friends from the West Kildonan Legion and the Marion and St. Boniface Hotels. He worked at Schneiders and Maple Leaf meat packing plants. Michael will be remembered for his quick wit, his generous spirit, and his love of music and antiques. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating Michael's life will be held on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at West Kildonan Legion, 1748 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation Manitoba Chapter, P.O. Box 1943, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 3R2 or to a charity of your choice.
