MARGARET HELEN WEST On June 26, 2008 at the age of 94 years, Margaret Helen West (nee Pearson) passed away at Victoria Hospital. Margaret was predeceased in March of this year by her loving husband of 59 years, Alden Reid West. She is survived by her sister Ruth Dobbin (Everett) and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was a family oriented person, always very interested in what her nieces and nephews were doing. Margaret was born and raised in Old Pinawa. After she completed her education she moved to Winnipeg, and during the war worked for Trans Canada Air. It was her responsibility to repair instruments used in Bomber Command aircraft during the Second World War. At the end of the war, she met her future husband Alden, when he returned from overseas, having served in Bomber Command. Both Margaret and Alden enjoyed nature, golfing, tennis, and bowling. They were also long time devoted members of their church. They especially enjoyed time at the family cottage near Old Pinawa where Margaret grew up. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of St. Boniface Hospital, Poseidon Personal Care Home, and the Victoria Hospital for their care of Margaret during the past five months. A memorial service to honour Margaret's life will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Thursday, July 10, in Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Ave. Flowers are graciously declined.
