ROGER LUCIEN BELOT It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Belot, beloved husband of the late Vivian Belot, on Friday, July 4, 2008, at Bethesda Hospital. Roger will be remembered by his son Cory (Melody) and their children: Ryan, Reece and Rayne; daughter-in-law Sherri and her children Korbin and Kadin; his brother Maurice (Dolores) Belot; his sister Roberta Snowaert; sister-in-law Gaylene (Mick) Lazar, brother-in-law Brian (Judy) Matiowsky as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Roger is now in heaven with Vivian who predeceased him in August of 2007, and their son Bradley, who predeceased him in October of 2006. He was also predeceased by his mother Stella in January, 2008, his father Robert in 1992 and brother Albert in 1971. Roger was born in St. Boniface, MB on July 4, 1939. Roger spent his early years working on the family dairy farm. Once the family farm was sold, Roger worked at various occupations including driving a gravel truck for Kleysen's Cartage, at a construction company building the Wilkes Avenue Aqueduct and then for a brief period worked for Neil Gagne long distance trucking. From there he went to Churchill working construction and finally settling in Shoal Lake to manage their new hotel, the Buffalo Plains Inn. It was here that he met the love of his life, Vivian and they were married on June 20, 1964. After their wedding Vivian and Roger moved to the farm in Prairie Grove MB, where they started their life together and raised their children. In 1968 Roger and his two brothers formed a partnership, Belot Brothers dealing in crops and long distance trucking. In 1977 Roger and his brother Maurice formed Belbro Enterprises Ltd. which they eventually sold in 1989. In 1980 Roger sold their farm and moved his family to Ile-des-Chênes. Roger spent his remaining years working at Carriere Fire and Safety, ABC Fire and Safety and spending his free time at Catherine Lake enjoying his passions, family, friends and fishing. In 2007 Roger and Vivian finally retired, sold their house and moved to Paradise Village. Family meant everything to Roger. Losing his beloved Vivian was devastating for Roger, but it warms our hearts to know that they are now reunited. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m. in the Notre-Dame-de-la-Miséricorde Church in Ile-des-Chênes, MB. Roger will be laid to rest in the family plot in the church cemetery. The family would like to thank the nurses at the Health Sciences Centre and the palliative care team of South Eastman Health.
