ELLA PETKAU (nee SCHELLENBERG) July 11, 1931 July 2, 2008 Peacefully on the morning of July 2, 2008, Ella Petkau passed away of cancer at the age of 76, following a short stay at the Riverview Health Centre. Ella leaves to mourn her passing George, her husband of one year, and his children, daughter Grace and Dave Loewen of Winnipeg, son John and Barb Petkau of Vancouver, daughter Judy and Tom Penner of Winnipeg, daughter Kathy and Rick Penner of Winnipeg, son Gerald and Andrea Petkau of North Carolina; and George's 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ella is also survived by her sister Anne Enns of Carmen, David and Kathleen Klassen of Winnipeg, sister Martha and David Penner of Winnipeg, brother Alfred and Helen Schellenberg of Winnipeg, and sister Marlene and Jake Thiessen of Toronto; also by many nieces and nephews, who were all very special to her. Ella was predeceased by infant brother Arthur, parents David and Anna Schellenberg, sister Helen Klassen and brother-in-law Peter Enns. Prior to her retirement, Ella was a longtime employee of Independent Jewellers. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 7, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Avenue. Viewing will be on Sunday, July 6 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street and at the church prior to the service. Interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons International. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses who cared for Ella, especially the staff at Riverton, East Wing, Third Floor.
