Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOIS WELLAND On the morning of June 27th, 2008 Lois Welland quietly passed away at the Northwoods Lodge in Red Lake. Lois was born on January 29th, 1920 in the small town of Hallbrite, Saskatchewan. She taught many years in Manitoba, from several different communities. The majority of her career was spent teaching in the Charleswood District of Winnipeg where she taught for 20 years. Lois was married later in life to Doug Welland. She moved to Warkworth, and spent the next 25 years in Southern Ontario. Lois and Doug enjoyed a life full of experiences which included extensive travelling. They travelled overseas and all over North America including many trips to Red Lake to visit family. Lois (affectionately known as Aunte Bug) moved to the Red Lake District after Doug passed away in 2002. She resided with her sister Mildred Johannesson in Cochenour, Ontario. Lois had recently moved into The Northwoods Lodge of Red Lake. She was a very kind and gentle woman full of laughter and generosity. Although she will be sadly missed by many friends and family, she leaves us countless wonderful memories. Her smiling face and characteristic laughter will always be fondly remembered. Lois is survived by her two sisters Mildred Johannesson of Cochenour, Ontario, Dorothy McDonald of Chemanus, British Columbia, step-daughters Anne Kinch of Campbellford, Ontario, Cathy Hooton of Comox, British Columbia, and Pam Wagner of Glenellen, California, and many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There will be a private interment for the family. In memory of Lois, donations can be made to the Northwoods Lodge, Box 420, Red Lake, Ontario, P0V 2M0, or to a charity of your choice.
