THERESE (THERESA) MARIE DIANE ROY (nee PLOURDE) It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Thérèse Marie Diane Roy on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the age of 102. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Elise, by her husband Raymond in 1976, son Philippe in 1982, daughter Jeanne in 2002, nephew Jim, sons-in-law Eddy and Paul, daughter-in-law Helen. She was the last surviving member of the Plourde family, predeceased by her brother Phil, sisters Eugenie, Eva, Yvonne, Margaret and Mary. Mom was born in Starbuck, Manitoba, September 20, 1905, was educated there and moved to Winnipeg around 1921. She worked in the garment industry for 20 years at J.L. Morton, and later at Johnston's Terminal, retiring at 70, all the while bringing up six children. She met Dad in St. Boniface and they were married September 5, 1927. Remaining to forever cherish her memory are her daughters: Aline Mousseau, Lorraine Toews, Denise Gavine (Andy) and son Robert (Jenny) and son-in-law Louis LaRocque; 15 grandchildren: Diane, Louise (Glen), Denis (Rhonda), Roger (Gloria), Murray (Jill), Peter (Anne), Ray (Mona), John (Sandra) Jacqueline (Trevor), Paul (Daphne), Kevin (Lesli), Suzanne (Gerald), Adam, Michelle, Richard and 16 great-grandchildren: Renee, Jared, Evan, Dayle, Christine, Mitchell, Christopher, Taylor, Jennifer, Phillip, Amanda, Jason, Daniel, Julianne, Lucy and Kaiya. Mom was a founding member of Le Club Vive La Joie in Windsor Park, called square dances, read teacups, was a great cook, loved to entertain, play whist and cribbage. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, July 9 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. with Father Ron Leger, C.S.V. officiating. Reception will follow. A private interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
