Cor Nagtegaal was born July 31, 1925 in Dirksland, the Netherlands. He lived through the Second World War, forced to work in a German work camp in Arnheim. After the war he was sent to Indonesia where he worked as an ambulance driver as part of the Dutch Peace Keeping Army from 1946-49. He met his wife Bertha van Donselaar while they were both working at the Maasoord Psychiatric Hospital in Rotterdam. They wed on July 22, 1953 and were married for 54 years. They immediately immigrated to Canada, where they were sent to a farm near Minnedosa, Manitoba. Cor then worked for a trucking firm, moving houses and moved on to work for Peterson Chimneys. Cor and Bertha moved to Winnipeg where they began their own business Winnipeg Chimney Service in 1962. His company is still successful to this date. He retired in 1990 and in 1993, moved with his wife to Kitchener/Waterloo. They enjoyed 10 years there making more close friends. When he became sick, they returned to Winnipeg to be closer to family. Cor and Bertha were blessed with five sons, three daughters and 20 grandchildren. Serving the Lord was the main stay of his life. He served many years as an elder and catechism teacher in the church. He loved church music (especially organ) and took great pleasure in reading and studying Reformed theology and doctrine. The Nagtegaal family expresses a special thank you to Cor's Homecare and Palliative care workers.
