She is survived by her son Gary (Florence) grandchildren Dylan, Garett and Jordan; her daughter Sharon Johnston (Scott) grandchildren Michael (Crystal), their daughter Megan, Kim Johnston-Rempel (Justin) their son Max, Kelly Phillips (Andrew), and daughter Debbie Adamchuk (Tony Karpinsky). Mom is also survived by her brothers Pete and Harry and her sisters Sophie Klem and Gladys Lyzun. She was predeceased by her parents John and Ksenia and five of her siblings. She was also predeceased by her husband Steven in 2005. Mom was born April 4, 1921 in Hawthorne Saskatchewan. On October 19, 1940 she married the love of her life Steven. Mom loved to cook and feed her family as well as anyone else who came through the back door. She was the shopping Queen and a regular at Eaton's Surprise Sales as well as any sale in the downtown area. As her two sons-in-law can attest this legacy is being carried on by her daughters. Our Mom was a nurturer, she was unselfish and giving and always there for her children. Mom was the number one babysitter for her grandchildren and was disappointed, that due to poor health, she could not do the same for her great-grandchildren. Ceramic lessons were one of Mom's favorite hobbies and every family member has a valued piece. In her early years she was a very talented wedding cake decorator. She decorated all of her children's wedding cakes as well as those of countless others. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Green Acres Funeral Home. A private family interment will be held in Green Acres Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Boniface Hospital Research - Palliative Care Room D1003 - 409 Tache Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R2H 2A6 or a charity of one's choice. Forever in our hearts we take comfort in knowing you are now pain free GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Green Acres Lane, (204) 222-3241 Life stories may be shared with friends and family across the globe at www.mem.com
