Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. EDWARD ROOKLIDGE SIDDALL February 13, 1925 July 6, 2008 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Ted', as he was known to all who knew him. After a brief lung illness fought most courageously, Ted passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre, surrounded by his family members. Ted was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The second eldest, Ted is survived by brothers Bill (Celia) of Toronto, Bob (Eleanor) of Winnipeg, and sister Margaret (Gary) of Ottawa. Raised in a family that respected education, Ted attended the University of Winnipeg and attained his medical degree in 1950. He met his future wife, June Anderson, in college, and they married in September that same year. They moved to Pine Falls, where Ted established his medical practice of 44 years. Ted was a dedicated, compassionate, and kind practitioner, always ready to lend an ear. He delivered many babies and was the anaesthesiologist during surgeries for an expansive area. Through his dedication, he provided care to the demographic including the beaches area, Traverse Bay, Sagkeeng First Nation, Hollow Water First Nation, Powerview-Pine Falls, St.Georges, and up to Lac du Bonnet. Ted and June raised three children together: Elaine (Roland), Bill (Nancy), and Jim (Lori). Later in life, they welcomed Dan (Tina) into their home. Ted lost his loving wife, June, to cancer in 1995. Ted was very proud of his five grandchildren: Shawn, Jennifer, Alex, Stephen, and Heather, as well as two great-grand-children: Jayce and Mason. He also leaves to mourn numerous friends and longtime neighbours, special friends' Joan, Kelly, Leo, Raymond, Ron, Andy, and John and Mary, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ted had many interests and accomplishments over his lifetime. He was a recognized bodybuilder and held many prestigious titles: Mr. Red River Valley' in 1971, Mr. Manitoba' in 1972, and Sr. Mr. North America, Most Muscular' in 1976 to name just a few. Ted continued his love of physical activity throughout his life, working out three times a week well into his 80s. He travelled extensively and enjoyed all mediums of cultural arts, including the symphony, the theatre, plays, and museums worldwide, especially those in New York and most recently, on a trip to Paris, France. In his retirement, Ted pursued his true passion for art and began painting and sculpting. He could be found at the Forum Art Institute four days per week, and he participated in several art shows, selling many original pieces and being commissioned for others. He made many friends at the Forum and will be greatly missed there. All who knew Ted loved his quiet nature and positive outlook in life. He accepted people for who they were without passing judgment; he never had a harsh word to say about anyone and was accepting and forgiving of all. He was a generous, intelligent man, full of charm, and had a good sense of humour. Mostly, he was down-to-earth and had a gift for captivating his audience'. Ted was deeply loved by all his family and friends; his kind spirit has left an imprint in our hearts and souls, and he will be forever missed. As per Ted's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service in celebration of Ted's life will be held at the Powerview Catholic Church at 38 Laura Street in Powerview, MB on Saturday, July 12 at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made to Riverview Health Centre, the Lung Association of Manitoba, or a charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank Dr. Janice Richman-Eisenstat and all the E2 wing staff at Riverview for their thoughtful and devoted care. As well, we would like to kindly acknowledge those patients who befriended Ted during his time at the centre.

Dr. Siddall played a huge part in my life. I grew up a close friend of his daughter, Elaine. I spent countless days playing at their home, and even spending time at their cottage at Albert Beach. He was the doctor that removed my tonsils, cared for me when I was ill, delivered my youngest daughter and cared for them as children, as well. How can you not say "thank-you" to a person like this? I will keep all the treasured memories in my heart, forever! Last, but not least, I thank you for providing me with a dear, dear friend in his daughter, Elaine. Always remembered...Lynda and Eddie Miller xo - Posted by: Ed and Lynda Miller (friends) on: May 08, 2012
