GERALD COURCHAINE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Courchaine at the young age of 52 on Saturday, July 5, 2008. Gerald will be dearly missed by his loving partner Sylvia and his only son Adam, his extended family Jayson, Vanessa, Caleb and Kadie. Also missing him will be his five brothers: Paul (Esther), Louis (Jill), Roger (Wendy), Crocket (Bev), Roland (Bev); his four sisters: Helen (Raymond) Pfeil, Claudette (Guy) Therrien, Cora (Gerry) Schmall, Dolores (Daniel) Lebrun; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews also a great-great-nephew and many close friends. Gerald was predeceased by his father and mother, two sisters and one brother. He was the co-founder of Dakota Concrete. Gerald lived his life to the fullest. His zest for life was never ending. Gerald had a great sense of humour along with a strong passion for hockey which carried him through his lifetime. His greatest fan was his mom who would take him on the bus to all his games. He started his hockey career at Glenlee and was a member of the Winnipeg Colts who travelled to Toronto. His hockey career continued with Windsor, Glenwood and the Saints. His career was short lived by his knee injuries. Gerald's love of hockey continues through his son Adam. We would like to thank the City of Winnipeg Fire and Rescue during his time for their prompt attention during a family emergency and their kindness will not be forgotten. Funeral Mass celebrating Gerald's life will be held on Thursday, July 10 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Emile's Church, 556 St. Anne's Rd. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
