Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER HOCALUK July 20, 1920 - July 7, 2008 Peacefully in his sleep at the Selkirk General Hospital with his wife at his side, Peter passed away July 7, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Peter is survived by his beloved wife Adeline of 59 years. He will be dearly missed by his children Randy (Audrey), Joanne (Kirby) Gerstmar, Trevor (Dianna-Mae); grandchildren Amanda (Steven) Fernandes, Justin (Nikki), Kyle and Gavin Gerstmar, Tyler, Caitlin, Cody and beautiful great-granddaughters Isis and Valencia, and great-grandson Andrew; brother-in-law Carl (Peggy) Jablonsky, sisters-in-law Mary Manitowich, Gladys Hocaluk and Grace Drobot. He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Peter was the last surviving member of the Fred Hocaluk family. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Annie; his sister Nellie (Isaac) Greening, brothers Michael (Helen) and John, as well as brothers-in-law Peter Manitowich and Edward Jablonski. Peter was born July 20, 1920 in Balsam Bay, MB. Peter joined the Canadian Military in 1943 and served overseas and was honorably discharged in 1946 following the war. He met and married Adeline in 1948. Peter was self- employed for 26 years, then worked at several other jobs, retiring in 1988. For the last 20 years Peter has been an avid gardener and thoroughly enjoyed working on his house and yard, playing cards with his family, entertaining friends, great-grandchildren, and was passionate about his favourite sporting events whether on the television or for his grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB. Interment of ashes will follow in the St. Clements Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Peter's memory to the Heart Stroke Foundation. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements
