ANGELINE (ANGIE) MAGER (nee POIRIER) On Sunday, July 6, 2008, in her 91st year, our loving mother, Angeline, was welcomed to her spiritual home. Born February 17, 1918, to Emile and Anna Poirier in Lorette, Angie moved with her parents to Norwood, in her teenage years. In 1943 she married Paul Mager and together they raised their family of four children in St. Vital. Both were active in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church and Angie was recently named an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Catholic Women's League. Her community life included many delightful hours with the Red River Seniors' Club. She expressed her artistic creativity through her weekly craft group at her friend Dorothy Troop's home. She and Paul had fond memories of travels with relatives and friends in Europe, North and South America. Left to honour her life and gifts are her four children, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren: Patricia (Russ) Kirby, and their daughters Jennifer (Bruno Lamarche) and children Justine and Gregory; and Andrea (Tyler Shandro) (all of Calgary); Marlene (John) Oldham, and their children, Angela Hilland (Steve Anderson) and children Kiersten, Brooke and Jillian (Winnipeg); Marnie Hilland (Anthony Kulbacki) and children Ryan and Erik (Saskatoon); Jamie (Laura) Hilland and children Jack and Sawyer (Winnipeg); step-grand-children Sarah Jane and her son Noah, and Christopher Oldham (Edmonton); Denis Mager (Susan Macdonald) and their daughter Olivia (Winnipeg); and Lucille Worone (Calgary) and children Allison (Ottawa) and Derek (Houston, TX). Angeline is also survived by her loving and devoted sister Therese Chaput-Voyer and family; as well as brother John and his wife Flora with whom Angie had a special friendship, and their family as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Angie was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1999 and siblings Aime, Fred, Leo, Michael, Rosaire, Rose, and Tony. Angie lived for many years on Portland Avenue and later on Moore Avenue before moving to Dakota House retirement residence. Following five months in St. Boniface Hospital, Angie moved to Foyer Valade in March 2008. From her window in Foyer Valade, Angie could see the spot where, 70 years ago, she paid 10 cents to cross the Red River by canoe from the University of Manitoba, where she worked, to the St. Boniface Sanatorium (now St. Amant Centre), to visit her brother-in-law. Angie's life was full and she was dedicated to achieving harmony in all of her relationships with family, friends, neighbours and caregivers. We already miss her dearly and know there are many others who feel the loss of her smile and humour. To those who helped her in so many ways in her aging years, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. A service to celebrate her life, love and witness will be held at Christ the King Church, 847 St. Mary's Road at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 10. Visitation one half hour prior to the service. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.desjardins-funeral.ca DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
