Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA JANE CLARKE July 13, 1914 July 7, 2008 It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Clarke announce her passing on July 7, 2008. Much loved mother of Brenda Gracie of Calgary, AB and James W. Clarke of Winnipeg, she is also survived by her granddaughters, Elizabeth Gracie of Calgary and Dr. Michelle Clarke (John Bartucz), her great-grand-daughter, Annika Isis Bartucz, all of Rochester MN, and Marilyn Clarke of Winnipeg. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, George W. Clarke and her brother, John MacIntyre. In her early years, Barbara combined an active family life with a challenging career at Eaton's, Winnipeg Supply, and the Dafoe Library at the University of Manitoba where she made many lifelong friends. Family vacations were highlights in her life, and in retirement, she and George spent many winters in Hawaii, Palm Springs, California, and Bonita Beach, Florida. From the advent of computers, Barbara enjoyed emailing her friends in the United States and Canada as well as Scotland and New Zealand, and remained an active computer enthusiast throughout the years. Her dearest friends were those from the Fort Garry neighbourhood whom she had known for over 50 years. Long after their families were grown, their friendships continued to strengthen. Whether working on the daily crossword puzzles or gathering for their weekly card night, their companionship sustained them through many of life's challenges, bringing joy to one another and all who surrounded them. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road, with the Rev. Dr. Gordon N. Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory can be made to Fort Garry United Church Memorial Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
