Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALECK CORNISH JOHNSTON November 28, 1930 - July 2, 2008 It is with much sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dearly loved husband and father, Aleck Cornish Johnston on July 2, 2008 at the age of 77 years in Abbotsford, BC. He was a loving husband to Eileen and a wonderful father to Terry (Agatha) of Jasper, AB Kim (Sherri) and Ian (Jana) of Winnipeg, MB. He leaves to mourn his special grandchildren, Bobby, Melissa, Jarrett, Kurtis, and baby Piper. He is survived by his sister Dorothy Allen of Weyburn, SK and brother Calvin (Joan) Johnston of Calgary, AB sister-in-law Grace (Larry) McIntosh, brother-in-law Ed (June) Martin of Saskatoon, SK John (Irene) Martin of Beaumont, AB and Bob (Linda) Martin of Medicine Hat, AB. Many nieces and nephews also survive including a very special niece Janet (Neil) Orsted of Weyburn, SK. Aleck was predeceased by his parents Bert and Carrie Johnston of Weyburn, SK brothers Carman, Kenneth, Norman, and Walter Johnston of Weyburn, SK and sisters Joy Kempthorne of Calgary, AB and Vera Johnston of Goodlands, MB. Aleck was born on November 28, 1930 in Goodwater, SK. His career with Canadian National Railways, first as a telegrapher for eleven years, and then 26 years with freight sales and marketing. This took Aleck, Eileen and their three boys to several destinations including Weyburn, SK, Port Arthur, ON, The Pas, MB, Saskatoon, SK, Thunder Bay, ON, and Winnipeg, MB. In 1989 Aleck took his retirement and he and Eileen moved to Abbotsford, BC where they spent many happy years. Aleck enjoyed his family and his main hobby was curling where he made many special friends. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and also of St. Matthews Anglican Church. A memorial service to celebrate Aleck's life will be held from St. Matthews Church, 2010 Guildford Drive, Abbotsford at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2008.
