JASON D. B. SURBEY Kelly keeps your jacket Hanging in the hall. It was always too big in the shoulders, Yet now it seems too small Skye keeps your last picture Blown up life size on the wall Probably to look into your eyes And inevitably remember it all Shannon keeps your spirit In the naming of her son And Kate no doubt keeps your feist In all those arguments won Mom wears your shirt Close like a hug The one numbered 33 The nearest thing left of her son Dad wears your ring On his left hand Reliving his watching you Become your own man In missing and hurting And chests that ache It's amazing just how much One family can take. To lift up their chins And gain from your strength To keep remembering this day As one we can't change. So we honour your silliness Your loyalty, your courage And remember that Jason Would not like us discouraged By allowing the pain Of that one fateful day To ever take away All the happiness he made We write this to remind That your place is not lost For your part in this family We'll always hold in our hearts. With tattoos and Pink Floyd And at Miramichi playing Risk In everyday that passes We're loving you to bits. Love your family
