Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARREL WILFRED PRIOR 1959 - 2008 It is with great sadness that we, Jasmine and India Prior, announce the passing of our wonderful dad, Garrel Wilfred Prior, on Saturday, July 12, 2008 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Garrel was predeceased by his brother Don on January 31, 2005. He is survived by Bart (father) and Linda Prior, Ruby Durant (mother) and Doug Morrison, Jan Bain (Don), Robert Prior (Nicole), Nancy, Terry Durant (Deidre), Sharon Pull (James), Karen Neufeld (Darryl), Darlene Main (Gord), Edwin Prior (Shawnee) as well as many nieces and nephews. Dad was born on March 6, 1959 in Portage la Prairie. When Dad was 15 he moved to Marquette to live with his dad on the farm and took up his high schooling Warren, MB. After leaving school Dad took an interest in the automotive trade. He apprenticed and worked under his dad in the family business known as Barts Garage. Upon receiving his mechanics license he worked a few more years with his dad, and then on February 13, 1984 he went to work for Wilfs Elie Ford. After working as a mechanic there for two years he was promoted to service manager on January 1, 1986. Dad was a very clever man in his trade and highly regarded for his expertise. It seemed there was nothing Dad could not do when it came to cars or anything mechanical. Many, many people in the Marquette community relied on Dad to repair farm machinery and knew he was just a call away, and he spent a lot of his evenings and weekends helping them. We enjoyed a lot of last minute adventures to wherever Dad and the car would take us. We would like to thank everyone from the Marquette and surrounding communities for all their support as well as the nursing staff and Dr. Venter for their care and kindness to Dad while in the Stonewall Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, P.O. Box 2248, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4A6. In accordance with Dad's wishes, there will be no formal service held.
