KATHRYN ELLEN SOTHERN (nee SMITH) August 16, 1953 July 13, 2008 With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Kathy on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Riverview Health Centre. She was surrounded by her family when she passed away after a long, brave battle with cancer. She was a fighter from the beginning and fought right to the end. Kathy is lovingly remembered by her children Laura and Geoffrey, her parents Orland and Terry, brother Bud (Tracy), sister Michelle (Randy), niece Lindsay (Adam), nephew Adam and other family members and close friends. Kathy was employed at The Learning Tree Day Nursery. She loved working with the children and made many lasting friendships with her co-workers. The family would like to thank all of the staff of 3 East at Riverview Health Centre, as well as Dr. Wong and Dr. Ogeranko of St. Boniface CancerCare for their wonderful care of Kathy. A memorial service will be held at Braeside Evangelical Mennonite Church, 1011 Munroe Avenue, on Thursday, July 17, at 2:00 p.m. The Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Transcona Cemetery, 5014 Dugald Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy's memory to Art City at 616 Broadway, R3C 0W8; or Riverview Health Centre 3 East at 1 Morley, R3L 2P4.
