Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMIL SLYMKEWICH December 3, 1931 July 13, 2008 After a lengthy journey of endless courage, dignity and strength, making the best of each day. Always with a positive outlook. Our dear husband, dad and grandpa left us peacefully. Emil will be deeply missed and forever loved by wife Betty of 51 years, sons Tom (Shelley), Les (Sherry) and daughter Kelly (Dave) and his grandchildren Tyson and Brooklyn. Emil was predeceased by his parents Walter and Mary and his brothers Sylvester and Jerry. Raised on a farm in Medika, dad spent all of his life in the Whitemouth area. He started out self employed first operating a saw mill and later in construction on building roads in the Whiteshell Park. Dad spent many years working for the Alper's Family business working as mechanic and as a bulk fuel truck driver. Dad moved on to the Air Force Base in Milner Ridge as a painter until its closing. He eventually became employed at the Whitemouth Health Centre as a maintenance worker until his retirement in 2006. Dad had a passion for life. He enjoyed all seasons of the year. Spring and summer fishing with his family and blueberry and mushroom picking with his mom. In the fall he enjoyed his hunting, Tyson and Brooklyn with their grandpa bird hunting and ATV riding. Hours spent deer hunting and moose hunting and winters trapping and ice fishing. Dad spent many a summer coaching the family and girls baseball teams. Family gathering were always special with mom and dad cooking us a feast with laughing and storytelling. Dad spent countless hours relaxing in his sunroom cheering the Blue Jays and watching wrestling. Dad was kind and devoted man who gave his time and love endlessly. Dad always made time for his family and friends. You knew you could always count on him for a helping hand. Always a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and friend he'll be greatly missed. We are grateful to Dr. Spence Nurses and the entire Staff of the Whitemouth Health Centre for their special care. A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from Russell Funeral Home Beausejour, Manitoba with Pastor George Johnson officiating. If so desired donations may be made in Emil's memory to the Whitemouth District Health Centre. RUSSELL'S of Beausejour, Manitoba are in care of arrangements.
