LORENE COTTON It is with much sadness, that we announce the passing of our dear Aunt on Monday July 14, 2008 at Oakview Nursing Home, at the age of 86. She was predeceased by her husband Bert; her brother Leonard; her sisters, Gladys, Evelyn and May. She leaves to mourn two nephews, Murray Beeston of Brandon, Bradley Beeston (Darlene) of Anola; her three nieces, Annette (Ulysse) of St. Francois Xavier, Doris Blair of Winnipeg and Shelley Peterson of Toronto; brothers-in-law Fred Beeston and Fred Cotton both of Winnipeg. Lorene was first and foremost a great homemaker. She loved her kitchen and there was almost always an aroma of freshly baked cookies and cakes when entering her home. She had a passion for knitting and crocheting, spending endless hours knitting toques and mitts which she sent to the Church to be forwarded to the less fortunate. Lorene was blessed with great neighbours who dropped in to visit frequently. She enjoyed each and everyone's company and loved to serve them tea and baking. She loved her nieces and nephews who visited often. She had a special place in her heart for each and everyone of them and they all had a special place in their hearts for her. She was loved and will be sadly missed. The family would like to extend many special thanks. Elianne Barnes was her dearest friend, she spent many evenings with Lorene playing cards or watching a special TV show. As the years took their toll on Lorene, Elianne became her caregiver, she loved her with all her heart and was by her side through the good times and the bad. She visited her daily at the nursing home and was with her when she took her last breath. Thank you Elianne, we will never forget. Special thanks also to Arnold Risbey, he was her Knight in Shining Armour, she knew he would be there for her and he was. Thank you Arnie, we can never repay you enough for what you did for her. You could always put a smile on her face with your good humour and your many jokes. To Vi Jenzen, the hair dresser and muffin lady, you were such a great friend. Thank You, to Terry Price who took her for rides, cooked her suppers and played board games with her, this has not been forgotten. We also wish to thank the staff at Oakview Place. You all cared for her with compassion and dignity. This was much appreciated. A mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Ave. on Thursday, July 17 at 10.30 a.m. with Father Mark Tarrant officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Neil Bardal Inc. 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
