Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEANNE SAGAN April 16, 1925 July 12, 2008 Jeanne made her final journey Home July 12 at the Grace Hospital at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her parents, (Andrew in 1978, and Anna in 1990) to whom she was a deeply devoted daughter. She leaves to mourn numerous cousins from the Romanik, Moroz, Wawruch, Summers and Patterson families, her longtime friend, Jean Fraser, and many other friends and students. Jeanne spent her life working as an X-Ray Technologist. She took her training as the first student in the Manitoba Government Technology Training program in Brandon. Upon graduation, she held the position of Chief Technologist at the Brandon Mental Health Centre. Following this, she held positions at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Oregon, Ottawa General Hospital (as Director of Studies) and the Montreal Neurological Institute. In 1964, she accepted a teaching position at Red River College, which she held for the next twenty four years until her retirement. Miss Sagan's legacy lives on through the work of her students, many of whom still practice the skills taught by Jeanne in clinics and hospitals throughout the city and beyond. She was a lifetime member of the Manitoba Association of Medical Radiation Technologists and a longstanding member of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists. A woman of deep faith, Jeanne belonged to the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League, the Church Choir, and the Holy Family Nursing Home Auxiliary. She enjoyed sharing her time with others through volunteer work at hospitals, home visits and involvement with youth. Jeanne possessed a quick wit, a warm smile, a keen sense of humour, and a brilliant memory that yielded many stories shared with family members and friends. She treasured her travels to the many Catholic Shrines in France, Portugal and Italy, with Portugal being her greatest joy. Jeanne was most appreciative of all who supported, visited and prayed for her during her illness, and for the compassionate care of the Grace Hospital 3-South Staff and longtime physicians, Dr. Kippen and Dr. Homik. She was also grateful for the pastoral support of Rev. Fr. Mark Gnutel and Rev. Fr. Michael Winn. Jeanne wished to express the following thoughts to all who were a part of her life journey: I humbly ask pardon and forgiveness of people I may have offended or caused any discomfort. I am truly sorry I tried to love you all. Please pray for me. An Evening Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Thursday, July 17, 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1001 Grant Avenue, with Rev. Fr. Michael Winn and Rev. Fr. Mark Gnutel as celebrants. A Graveside Burial Service will take place Friday, July 18, 2:00 p.m. in the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Jeanne's memory to the Leprosy Mission Canada or a charity of your choice.
