Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD ALEXANDER SMALL May 29, 1941 - July 16, 2008 On Wednesday morning, while at home holding his precious wife Lesley's hand, Richard slipped into glory and went to be with the Lord. He is also survived by his two daughters, Lesley (Kevin) Bailey and granddaughter Sierra; Cherie (Steve) Karnafel and granddaughters Shaylene and Braylin; and his brother Lou (Marlene) Small. Richard was predeceased by his father Alec in October 1998 and his mother Toni in July 2000. A dedicated family man, Richard's greatest love in life was his faith in the Lord, and his beloved wife Lesley of 45 years, his children and grandchildren. Richard and Lesley were inseparable, completely enjoying each other's company whether at home, at their family cottage at Falcon Lake, travelling together or on the golf course - with family and friends. Richard was highly respected in the insurance industry, having worked for Prudential Assurance for 24 years. He was also employed by General Accident, Royal Insurance, as well as AXA Pacific. After learning he had Lymphoma in 2004, Richard made a valiant effort to overcome his illness. Through it all, his faith in God enabled him to stay strong, while his hope remained firmly grounded on his Rock and Salvation - Jesus Christ! We take comfort knowing that our awesome God has been in control, and that Richard is now at home with his Heavenly Father. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all who were there for Richard to pray, care for and spend time with him - especially Pastor Steve and our church family; brother-in-law Ken (Gayle) Hominick; friends Wayne and Mary-Ann Novak; Murray and Joanne Spark; Gord and Jan Rost, neighbours Marg and Ed Fuhro and Rose and Hans Bielert. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Transcona Alliance Church, 751 Kildare Avenue East with Pastor Steven Janz officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Richard may be made to the Transcona Alliance Church Building Fund. A TRUE GENTLEMAN - respected by all.
