LILY PAULINE KITCHEN (nee SUMKA) July 12, 1947 - July 15, 2008 Peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, Lil passed away at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 61 years. Lil will be sadly missed but not forgotten by her husband Dave of 36 years, her twin sister Alice Maksymetz (Lawrence), her sisters Helen Ledochowski of Dauphin, Marie Griffin (Gary), her brothers Edward (Steffie), Stan (Pam), Tony (Diane), and Ted (Shirley). She is also survived by her mother-in-law Annie Kitchen of Canora, sisters-in-law Iris Letourneau (Dave) of Calgary, Donna Humeniuk (Michael) of Regina, Danny Kitchen (Carol) of Yorkton, brothers-in-law Robert Kitchen of Calgary and Larry Kitchen (Debbie) of Yorkton. She will be sadly missed by her numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents John and Regina Sumka and her father-in-law William Kitchen. Lil was born in Skylake, MB on the way to the Arborg Hospital. Lil and her twin sister Alice were very close to one another. They both attended Adam School in Skylake and Lil attended Gimli Collegiate where she took Home Economics and Accounting. In 1972 she married the love of her life David Kitchen. Lil worked for many years for Motor Coach Industries in accounting. Lil's passion was her gardening. Every year her bountiful garden was something to behold. She shared her produce with everyone. Everyone loved her dills, passionately known as Lil's Dills . She also enjoyed travelling with Dave. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away. You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend. But still you kept on fighting, Until the very end. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, So he put His loving arms around you, And whispered, Come to Me. Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Funeral service to take place on Friday, July 18, 2008 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave., at 10:00 a.m. with Father Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM officiating.
