ALVIN JOHN WIEBE 1930 - 2008 Alvin John Wiebe passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008. Husband. Father. Grandpa. Entrepreneur. Sportsman. Pilot. Quietly and peacefully, Alvin passed away in St. Boniface Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Alvin was born on April 18, 1930 in Winkler, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his wife of 24 years, Elsie in 1976. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Irene. He will be dearly missed and cherished in the memories of his wife, and his children: Arlene (Dennis), Carole (Leighton), Clifford (Sheri), Paul (Cheryl), Bruce (Susan), and David (Trudy), and his grandchildren: Sherri, Robert, Jeremy, Michael, Jonathan, Joel, Nadine, Jordan, Renée, Kristin, Alyssa, Isaac and Lisa. Throughout his life, Alvin was influential in the business community, including a term as President of the Manitoba Vegetable Growers Association during his time in Winkler as owner of South Central Farms. After moving to Winnipeg in 1972, Alvin's involvement continued through his founding of construction company Webco Developments Ltd. With little outside assistance, Webco flourished, winning contracts normally reserved for companies many times Webco's size. This determination carried over into all aspects of Alvin's life. Alvin was never intimidated by any challenge, able to convert the obstacles that life presented to personal success. As an avid sportsman and private pilot, Alvin partook in many fly-in hunting and fishing trips, piloted his 4 seater Stintson to Mexico, and through the Rocky Mountains. Alvin enjoyed traveling, including a European trip, and several years of motorhome travel across North America. The memories he gave his family and friends that shared in these adventures will live on for many years to come. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alvin's favourite charity, The Salvation Army. Alvin's family thanks the staff of St. Boniface Hospital for their care and support during this difficult time. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550
