Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH IRENE HEMMING (nee VIVIAN) December 5, 1932 - July 15, 2008 With great sadness, the family of Ruth Hemming announces her passing on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg. Ruth is lovingly remembered by her husband Stanley, and their daughter Sandra Hemming, as well as her brother Ted Vivian, sisters Margaret Donald and Jean King, numerous nieces and nephews, and her best friend Lynne Graham. Ruth was predeceased by her parents Murray and Irene Vivian and her brothers, Richard and Tom Vivian. Ruth was born on December 5, 1932, in Winnipeg, where she lived all of her years. Her early working life included positions at Eaton's and National Grain. After marrying Stan in 1954, her focus turned to home and family. Known for her thoughtful and considerate nature, Ruth gave much of herself to others. Her home was the scene of many family gatherings, where her excellent cooking and baking skills were appreciated by all. Ruth was a creative soul, who expressed herself through her writing, photography and gardening. She was also an avid reader, crossword aficionado and fierce Scrabble competitor. Her witty nature and caring spirit will be missed by all who were lucky enough to share her life. The family would like to thank Helen and all of the staff of 3 East, Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion. A memorial service to honour Ruth will be held on Saturday, July 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. In accordance with Ruth's wishes, cremation has taken place.
