GRANT L. JOHNSON Peacefully on July 14, 2008, Grant passed away at the age of 85 years with family at his side. Remembering him with love and laughter are Shirley, his loving wife of 62 years; daughter Shelley Struthers (Scott); son Brian Johnson (Jane), daughter Leslie Thomson (Neil), sister Joan Ainslie (Matt), grandchildren, Jessica Erb (Conrad), Josh Struthers, Erin Popoff (Chris) Ashley Thomson; two dear great-grandsons Jake and Dylan Erb. Grant was born in Winnipeg, and lived here all his life except for 20 years in Victoria, BC, however, in his heart Winnipeg was always home. In 2005 Grant and Shirley returned to Winnipeg and enjoyed a wonderful three years at Sterling House. Grant was an avid sportsman, Blue Bomber fan and golfer. He was a longtime member of the Winnipeg Winter Club and St. Charles Country Club as well as the Colwood Golf Club and Arbutus Ridge Golf Club on Vancouver Island. Grant retired from his active business life in 1985 from Sterling Engine Works/Manwest Engineering. We will all remember Grant for his quick wit, and sharp sense of the ridiculous. One of the last comments he made was I better go, I've got to make my tee time . We like to think of him as joining his old golfing buddies for many more laughter filled rounds of golf. A private family service has been held. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Victoria General Hospital Foundation.
