Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWINNIFRED VOLKART 1927 - 2008 It is with great sadness that on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, Winnie, our Mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend passed away at the age of 81 years. Winnie was predeceased by her husband Doug, her parents Joe and Elsa, and her brother Bill, brothers-in-law Bill and Carl and sister-in-law Irene. Mom will be missed and forever remembered and loved by her children Ron (Verley), (Ching), Doug (Jan), Gord (Lori), Bruce (Cathy), Val (Kirk), Gail (Andy Bommersbach). Grandchildren and great-grandchildren Jason, Devan and Damon, Lori (Oliver) and Carmen; Shaun (Darcie) Max and Sawyer; Cameron (Amie), Calla and Mason; Tara (John), Joel, Chelsea, Ashlee, Allison, Jordan, Ainsley, Kendra, and numerous nieces and nephews. Winnie was a sweet lady, who loved her home life. She was happiest when her kids, grand-children and great-grandchildren were over visiting her. She will always be remembered for her strength and grace during her illness and was blessed to be able to remain in her own home until her last days. It was always fun to visit Mom, she never let her illness ruin a Saturday afternoon visit! The family would like to extend their gratitude to Doctor Patricia Harris and the Staff at Concordia Oncology Department for their care and compassion and to the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their care during Winnie's last days. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Winnie's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Klassen's Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. on Monday, July 21, 2008. In lieu of flowers donations in Winnifred's honour may be made to CancerCare Foundation of Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9; or to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4.
