MARGUERITE (BETTY) LIGHTFOOT
Born: May 08, 1924
Date of Passing: Jul 15, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGUERITE (BETTY) LIGHTFOOT May 8, 1924 - July 15, 2008 Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, we announce with deepest sadness the passing of Betty, age 84. Predeceased by her husband Al Lightfoot, and her parents Margaret and Harold Jones. Betty leaves to mourn, her brother Colin Campbell and family of BC, along with many cousins and friends too numerous to mention. Loved and cared for by her dear friend Louise Simpkins and extended family for many years - she was just part of their mix. Born in Winnipeg, attending Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, before embarking on a career spanning 51 years with Orchid Florist. She dearly loved family, friends and interaction, travel, sports (whether participating in various bowling leagues or faithfully following the Fort Rouge Soccer Club), listening to music, spending time at Royal Lake, Winnipeg Beach, Clearwater Bay and the odd casino action. Betty was proud of her Scottish heritage, and known for her whimsical sayings. A fun lady with a great sense of humor, stylish, proper and elegant. Independent (until otherwise unable due to Alzheimers), unimposing, organized, positive, helpful, and a joy to have in one's life. She was a character, with the ability to laugh at herself, and quick with her quips until the end. Memorable in her soft spoken way - she lived a full life - we all loved Aunt Betty . Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Pembina Place for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Betty. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 783-7211 www.thomsonfuneralhome.ca
