JOY HUFF (nee BLIZZARD) Mom passed away peacefully with family at her side on Thursday, July, 17, 2008 at Central Park Lodge Parkview Place. Mom was born in Toronto on September 23, 1928 and moved to Winnipeg in 1948. She was predeceased by her husband George in1976, her mother Elsie in 1979 and her father Oliver in 1945. Mom is survived by her daughter Carol and son-in-law Jim, son Gary and daughter-in-law Shauna, son Tom, grandchildren Jim, Jeremy, Leah, Jessica and Vicki and great grandchild Halle. She worked at W.G. McMahon's from 1961 until her retirement in 1986. Mom traveled the world extensively but Africa was her favorite. She returned there to visit different areas but it was Kenya that captured her heart. We believe that she took a picture of every lion and elephant in Kenya. Gardening was also a passion. She did all of her own yard work and gardening until she moved to Central Park Lodge in 1999. After retirement she did volunteer work with the Humane Society. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff on the second floor of Central Park Lodge for their compassionate care of mom and also to her caring companion Anita. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or a charity of your choice. Funeral Service will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Joy will be laid to rest in Green Acres Cemetery and a memorial reception will follow the interment.
