Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAURICE GENDRON It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Maurice Gendron on July 15, 2008 from complications of cancer at the age of 71 years. He was predeceased by his son Robert, father Oscar, stepfather Wilfred, sister Mona Fournier and brother Denis. Left to cherish his beautiful memory, his wife of 50 years Irène (nee Pinette), children Carol (Paul) Casavant, Rachèle (Mark) Humphrey, Luc (Christine) Gendron. Grand-children, Ja'Net (Kelly), Justin (Andrea), Alex (Colette), Cole, Jordan, Arielle, Haley and Claire. Also left to mourn, his mother Eleonore Gendron (who just recently celebrated her 99th birthday), his brothers and sister, Louis (Elaine) Gendron, Armand (Jeanne) Gendron, Elianne (Fred) Malko, Marcel (Julia) Gendron and numerous nieces and nephews. Maurice was born in 1936 in St. Boniface and spent most of his childhood in St. Labre Manitoba. He later returned to Winnipeg where he met his wife Irène whom he married in 1957. Maurice was an incredible human being. He was kind, compassionate, generous, loving and devoted to his family and his friends. He had a passion for life and enjoyed every day as if it were his last. Anyone who met or spent time with Maurice knew that he was genuinely interested in them as a fellow human being and felt blessed to have known him. He gave much of his personal time to various organizations including the Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club and was a very active member of the Catholic Church. Maurice was a man of great faith. Maurice spent most of his working career in the autobody industry and eventually became the proud owner of Pembina Auto Body where he enjoyed not only the work itself but the opportunity to meet new people. One of his greatest joys was working in the company of his eldest son Robert and then later with his youngest son Luc. Maurice had a passion for classic muscle cars and completed several off frame restorations of his own - his favorite being the 1969 Pontiac GTO convertible. Another one of his passions was spending time on the Golf course perfecting (almost) his game. The greatest love of his life was his wife, Irène, their children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them and always looked forward to them joining him and Irène in his favorite vacation spot - Maui, Hawaii. Dad had a large circle of close friends. They supported him and offered encouragement throughout his illness. A special thank you to them and to his long time friend Ken McLaughlin for everything he did. Maurice will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched. His memory will be cherished forever. The family would like to thank the medical staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, Victoria Hospital, Health Science Center and CancerCare. A special thank you to Dr. Andrew W. Maksymiuk and nurse Marrisa Rodrigues for all the care and compassion shown towards Maurice and Irène. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday July 21 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 135 John Forsyth Road with Fr. Phil Daley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maurice's memory to CancerCare, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9 and /or Children's Wish, 350 St. Mary's Avenue Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2.
