CATHERINE HOUSSIN (nee KINASH) Catherine passed away peacefully at Tuxedo Nursing Home early Sunday morning on July 20, 2008 at the age of 90. Catherine is survived by her loving husband and soulmate Odil Houssin, her sister Elsie and family in Niagara Falls, her sister Sylvia and family in Penticton, her daughter-in-law Barbara Houssin in Winnipeg, her granddaughter Susan Brown and her husband James Brown and her only great-grandson Forest Brown in Winnipeg. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Yvonne Houssin and numerous nieces and nephews. Catherine was predeceased by her parents, Parace Kinash in 1970 and Nester Kinash in 1963, her son Roger in 1993, her sister Alice in California in 2006, her brother Stan in 1996, her brother Nick in 1982, her sisters-in-law, Madeline and Evelyn, her brothers-in-law, Ernest Andy, George and Mitchell. Catherine was born on October 23, 1917 in E. Kildonan, Manitoba and lived in Winnipeg all her life. She and her husband Odil were married on January 8, 1938 and just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Catherine was a member of the Belgian Club and enjoyed attending services at the St. Boniface Cathedral and at the Holy Cross Church. Catherine loved to sew, dance, do various crafts, bake, play cards and enjoyed taking pictures. Catherine and Odil spent lots of time travelling and visiting their son, Roger and family who was in the Military, in his various postings in Canada. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family and all the lives she touched. The family would like to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home for the care given to Catherine during her stay. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Green Acres Funeral Home with interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make a donation to a charity of their choice as a token of remembrance.
