IRENE EVELYN CUFFE (nee NICOLSON) 1917 2008 On July 20, 2008, our beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 90 years. She leaves to mourn her passing her son Terry Cuffe (Pat); daughter Valdine Shushkewich (Ken) and grandchildren, Jennifer Cuffe, Sandra Cuffe and Joanne Cuffe, as well as many other family and friends. Irene trained at Success Business College in Winnipeg and worked until her marriage on August 3, 1945 to George William Cuffe, the great love of her life. Irene enjoyed music, especially opera, and she played the organ by ear. She looked after her mother, Jemima Nicolson, for many years, and hosted many get-togethers with her three sisters Alice (John) Woodman, Edna (George) Gow, and Amy (Laurie) McDougall. Her family was always the most important thing to her. She and George made trips every year to Vancouver in order to spend time with her three grandchildren as they were growing up. We will always remember her as a selfless and considerate Angel on Earth , who always considered others, not herself. Irene was predeceased by her husband George in December, 2006, and by her sisters and their husbands. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the caregivers, nurses and all the staff at the Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home, who provided such good care to Irene for the last year and a half. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charles H. Best Research Fund, c/o Canadian Diabetes Association, 1400-522 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, M5G 2R5. According to Irene's wishes, there will be no service. Interment will take place at Thomson In the Park Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg.
